We make big impact through great design.
We design and manufacture bespoke architectural products for commercial and educational clients. Often clients come to us with a concept or a problem. We take the project all the way from design ideation to batch manufacture.
We're not just serious about making impact, but making the right impact. The Huxlo process has been developed to ensure targets are made and expectations met.
1. Design Definition
Needs Assessment and Specification
Great design begins by asking the right questions. Projects begin with a needs assessment and this is documented with a specification. Needs assessments are conducted either face to face or over the phone. The studio will compile the findings in the form a specification.
2. Design Discovery
Concept Ideation
Once the challenge is understood, we move onto concept generation. This is typically delivered as a page of concept sketches showing potential options, materials and functions.
Concept Development
We use state of the art 3D modelling software to develop ideas and simulate them before even entering the workshop. 3D models allow us to generate realistic renders and explore the product from all directions.
- 3D Modelling
- Realistic Rendering
- Simulation
Once the correct design has been developed we generate detailed drawings of the product. These are typically delivered as an orthographic line drawing with dimensions and annotations. If on-site installation is required then we can produce method statements and risk assessments.

3. Design Delivery
Prototyping
Our in house prototyping equipment allows us to quickly produce full or scaled size prototypes.
- CNC Milling
- 3D Printing
- Laser Cutting
We're experts at setting up manufacturing processes for batch production. Our digital fabrication machines allow us to produce large volumes at affordable price points. Items can be finished in a variety of finishes.
4. Design Delivery
Courier delivery and Installation.
The items will be quality inspected, carefully packaged and delivered to site by courier. If on-site installation is required then an operative will arrive on site following delivery.
“Huxlo was fantastic to work with. They really understood our needs as a centre for studio-based learning, and they created a great suite of bespoke furniture, unique to our teaching space. Huxlo’s rapid prototyping allowed us greater insight and input into the design process and the project ended in a great result.”Dr. Kirsten Cater, Academic Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
