Hey Alicia! Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! My name is Alicia and I’m a full time Kitchen Designer. When I’m not working, I spend most of my free time cycling. I started cycling during the first UK lockdown back in 2020 and have been in love with it ever since. It’s a great way to get outside and explore, whilst keeping fit and healthy. My dad took to cycling around the same time as me so it’s a great way to spend some quality time with each other.
We think you've created a superb functional space, what did you set out to create and has that changed along the way?
Thank you! We originally set out to use the room as storage for our bikes, clothing and accessories. However, as we turned to autumn/winter, we realised that outdoor riding isn’t always an option, so we invested in a couple of indoor turbo trainers. Since then the front room has been re-named ‘the pain cave’ and it is probably our most favourite room of the house.
How are you using the bicycle wall mounts?
I’m still living at home, so after dad and I had both bought new bikes, we quickly realised that we needed a better bike storage solution as they can take up a fair bit of space. The Huxlo bike wall mounts were the perfect answer to this, keeping the bikes out of the way but still allowing us to display them (because who doesn’t want to look at their bike all day every day?)
Any future ideas for the space?
I have a new bike on order, so we may need to re-arrange to fit that in! We have also started collecting some cycling prints to add some colour to the space.
Any tips for someone trying to create a dedicated space like this?
Optimise the space that you have! The Huxlo wall mounts help to free up floor space while adding shelves and clothing rails help to keep the space organised. If you’re thinking of getting an indoor trainer, a fan is an absolute must!
